According to the learning pyramid, teaching others is the best way for me to learn. Anyway, before students can teach others, they must have a very clear understanding of the topic they are teaching, so in my class, I decided to combine all of the teaching and learning techniques in order to build their understanding from basic to advanced, which means, at the end, they should be able to provide their opinion during discussion, work on real-life situations, and teach others.

 

For example, in my business class, I always begin by lecturing basic theories and then ask students a pertinent question about their daily lives, such as where they normally shop for furniture in Thailand. and ask them to share information about their company with the class. After that, everyone will read a case study titled "Why IKEA Took China By Storm, While Home Depot Failed Miserably." Some students may be unfamiliar with the Home Depot company, so I will show them a video clip of the business in action. Furthermore, the students will now conduct their own research for news or information related to the topic, which they will compare and discuss with their peers.

 

Finally, they will provide their own opinion as well as examples of other cases that occurred due to the same reasons, and if their friends have any questions, these students should be able to answer them.

Another class in TOEFL, I use the same teaching and learning styles as described above. Aside from that, they will need to practice on real examinations and quizzes, and I will also have them create learning kits about the topic they discovered to be their weakness, which will allow them to do more research on their own, and they will all present their learning kits to teach others about the topic.

The creation of plans and instructions.

Throughout the school year, I used a variety of assessments, including quizzes, essays, projects, and class projects. The findings indicate that students have a good understanding of the concepts but lack critical thinking skills. As a result, I decided to modify some instructions and activities for next year's lesson to give students more opportunities to advance their higher thinking.

Self-directed projects were used more frequently, and the topics of works varied and based on the students' preferences. After attending an educational seminar at SWU, I decided to allow students to choose their own topic related to their passions to integrate with class knowledge. I discovered that because they spent less time researching, they were able to develop ideas more easily and deeply. Meanwhile, they can devote more time to developing their concepts. They will also be allowed to choose a question topic, which I believe will encourage them to participate more in class.
